Built by Electric 51 Speed Shop in Salt Lake City, this EV-converted classic has raised eyebrows and shredded cones on autocross tracks for the past 5–6 years.

Featured in Street Trucks Magazine, EV Builder’s Guide, and even driven by Dave Kindig and KevDogg on Bitchin’ Rides (2023), the TeslApache is more than a head-turner — it’s a fully engineered, battle-tested performance EV.

The Story

Under the hood?
A Tesla Model S rear drive unit delivering 400 horsepower and instant torque — no delays, no drama, just raw electric power to the wheels.
Braking is just as serious: Wilwood power brakes, GM standalone vacuum pump, and four-wheel disc brakes for confident, consistent stops.

Steering through autocross courses?

Volvo S40 electric power steering paired with a Camaro steering box and 1981 Camaro front suspension, upgraded with Ridetech Shockwaves air ride. Out back: a modified Cadillac suspension with 2500 Vixen air bags for a planted, controlled ride.

Power comes from an LG Chem battery pack (3P6S configuration) managed by a Dilithium Designs BMS. Two packs — one mounted under the cab, the other under the hood — deliver performance and balance. Control the Tesla Large Drive Unit via Bluetooth with the EV Controls app. Charging is simple: plug into any J1772 Level 2 charger (no DC fast charging).
